A terrific finish to our first month together!

All of the artists at BRAE spent the month of October learning about the elements of art. We focused heavily on line shape and value, touching on space, texture, form and space (with more emphasis on the later four elements as the level of art experience progressed in the different classes).

We finished October (as we will every month) with a special project intended to incorporate all of the things we've learned so far. The theme of the project was Fall and the students were invited to compose something that represents fall to them. Check out their compositions! Also, note how effectively they incorporated as many elements of art as possible (with the exception of colour).

Many of them are partially done and I hope to have finished projects to show you by the end of this weeks classes. We have also been making artist trading cards. This week, our first trade will happen and your child may choose to trade some of their best work for an example of someone else's. It's so inspiring to know that someone values the work you do and that they're willing to share some of their best with you!
