SOFT PASTELS

For people with zero or some pastel experience. Bring your supplies (pastel paper and an assortment of pastels plus a table cover to make clean up easier) and get to know this beautiful medium better. Topics covered will include layering and blending colours, using tools, underpainting and more.

DRAWING

This class is for anyone who wants to improve their drawing skills. Bring your sketchbook, pencils (2H to 6B), erasers, charcoal, markers and/or any other medium you want to draw with. Together we will play drawing games and do activities/projects aimed at building skills when working with photos and from life as well as loosening up and exploring expressive use of line, value and shape.

WATERCOLOUR

This class is for beginners and experienced watercolour artists. Beginners will be taught the ins and outs of watercolour painting through a series of exercises and some shared painting experiences. Those more advanced are invited to work on their own projects, receive support, tips and have conversation about their projects or join the exercises and shared painting activities.

Suggested supplies:

Paper (140 lb or more) Fluid and Strathmore are reasonably priced for decent paper

brushes 2 rounds and 1 or 2 flats each- a round size 8 or bigger plus a slightly larger size and a flat that is approximately ¼ inch or larger across. A good round brush snaps to a nice point and holds lots of water. A good flat brush has longer bristles to hold more water. The best brushes are usually made of hair.

Paints- Good brands to purchase in tubes are Daniel Smith, Holbein, Schmincke, M. Graham and Winsor Newton.
